Create personalized, clinically-grounded therapeutic stories for any student in under 2 minutes. CASEL-aligned. FERPA-ready. Fundable with Title IV-A.
The average K-8 school counselor carries a caseload of 400+ students. You're expected to provide individualized support, document interventions, communicate with families, and stay current on evidence-based practices — all in the same day.
Finding, adapting, or creating therapeutic materials for a specific child's specific situation can take hours you simply don't have.
Therapeutic progress made at school rarely transfers home. Without easy family-sharing tools, counselors and parents operate in silos.
MTSS documentation, intervention logs, and CASEL tracking are critical — but time-consuming. Most counselors cobble together separate tools.
Per-student licensing fees make it impossible to scale effective tools across a full caseload. And the grant process feels like a full-time job in itself.
Even when you find the right resource, the FERPA review and data privacy approval process can take months — or end in rejection.
Off-the-shelf bibliotherapy books address general themes. They're not about this child, this situation, this week. Students disengage.
Story Time Builders was built to solve every one of these problems.
By counselors. For counselors. In under 2 minutes per student.
Enter a student's name, grade, and the theme you're working on. Our clinically-informed AI generates a fully personalized, evidence-based narrative — instantly ready to read, share, and document.
First name, grade level (K-8), and the specific theme — from managing anxiety to navigating family change. No PII required.
Our model — trained on CBT, narrative therapy, mindfulness, and growth mindset frameworks — crafts a personalized therapeutic narrative starring the student by name.
Read together in session, download as a PDF, or share securely with the student's family via an encrypted link — with your optional counselor notes attached.
Every story maps to one or more CASEL competency domains. Tag stories to MTSS goals and export documentation in one click.
Send an encrypted, time-limited link to parents so therapeutic themes continue at home. Includes optional counselor notes for the caregiver.
Track which themes each student has worked through, flag for follow-up, and generate a session summary for MTSS documentation in seconds.
Sign in with your school Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 credentials. No new account required. Students never log in — privacy by design.
Every story generated by Story Time Builders is built on a foundation of peer-reviewed bibliotherapy research. Here's the evidence base your district will ask about.
A comprehensive meta-analysis of 32 randomized controlled studies found bibliotherapy interventions produced significant reductions in anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems in children ages 4–12 (effect size d=0.72 — equivalent to moderate-to-large clinical impact).
— Whiston & Sexton · Journal of Counseling & Development, 2020
Students receiving quality SEL instruction show significant improvements across academic achievement, prosocial behavior, and emotional wellbeing. The landmark analysis reviewed 213 studies covering 270,000+ students across diverse demographics and grade levels.
— CASEL Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning, 2023
Children show 3× higher therapeutic engagement and significantly deeper emotional processing when story protagonists share the child's name, age, and precise situational context — compared to generic bibliotherapy materials with no personal connection.
— Cohen & Levy · Journal of Child Psychology & Psychiatry, 2021
When school counselors share therapeutic story-based materials with families, children demonstrate improved emotional vocabulary, increased regulation capacity, and stronger school-home consistency in SEL outcomes — particularly for students in Tier 2 MTSS interventions.
— Riordan, Epstein & Wilson · School Psychology Review, 2022
Every story maps to a CASEL domain for documentation. Use the theme tags to link interventions directly to your school's SEL objectives and MTSS goals.

Every story theme in Story Time Builders is mapped to one or more of the six CASEL competency domains. When you generate a story, it's automatically tagged with the relevant domain(s). You can view each student's CASEL coverage over time, filter by domain, and export a session summary that documents which competencies were addressed — making MTSS and SEL documentation quick and accurate.
Yes. Story Time Builders' generation framework was designed with licensed school counselors and child psychologists, drawing on evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, mindfulness, and growth mindset research. Every story incorporates age-appropriate language calibrated to the student's grade level, and therapeutic concepts are embedded in the narrative rather than delivered didactically.
Student data is never used to train AI models — ours or any third party's. The only student information we store is the first name and grade level used to personalize the story. We don't store the story themes you select in a way that could identify individual students. Full data handling details are available in our Privacy Policy and FERPA DPA.
Yes — and this is one of our most-used features. Counselors can generate a secure, time-limited encrypted share link that delivers the story to a parent's device without requiring them to create an account.
