Age Suitability

Story Time Builders is an app for parents, guardians, and educators — not a Made for Kids app. Account holders must be 13 or older. The stories they create are written for children ages 3–12 and are designed to be age-appropriate social-emotional learning content.
Who the app is for
Story Time Builders is built for adults who support children:
- Parents and guardians creating personalized stories at home
- School counselors and educators using bibliotherapy and SEL stories with students
Children are the audience of the stories, not the account holders. We do not design the product as a child’s self-serve app, and we do not participate in Apple’s Made for Kids program or Kids Category.
Parents, guardians, and educators. Must be 13 years of age or older. New accounts complete an age check; under-13 accounts are not permitted.
Children roughly ages 3–12. Stories are personalized by an adult and shared with the child under that adult’s guidance.
App Store age rating
Our App Store listing uses an age rating that reflects this dual audience: the storefront and account experience are for teens and adults (13+), even though story content is suitable for younger children when an adult is present.
If the standard content questionnaire alone would suggest a younger band, we override to a higher age rating so the listing matches our Terms, our in-app age gate, and how the product is actually used.
What the stories contain
Generated stories are intended to be gentle, supportive, and appropriate for elementary-age children. Typical themes include feelings, friendship, school transitions, worry, and other social-emotional topics. Stories are a supplemental tool for families and counselors — not a substitute for licensed mental health care.
We design prompts and product safeguards so stories avoid graphic violence, sexual content, and other mature material that would be inappropriate for a children’s storybook context.
Parental and educator involvement
- An eligible adult creates the account and configures the story.
- Child details used for personalization (such as a first name or age band) are provided by that adult — not collected directly from the child in the account flow.
- Counselor workflows are intended for authorized school professionals supporting students.
